New for 2014 was the BAFTAS (Badby And Fawsley Trekkers, Amblers and Strollers). We do monthly walks around the area,  including  a refreshment stop for coffee, lunch or afternoon tea to put back on all the calories we will have walked off. Ann Syred and Maggie Marshman organise Outings and Theatre trips as and when, depending on the programme at Derngate / Royal Theatre,  Northampton and MK Theatre. In 2015 these included trips to Bletchley Park and Chatsworth House when it was decorated for Christmas and in 2016 24 members visited the Christmas Craft Fair at Blenheim Palace. Theatre trips have included ‘The boy in Striped Pyjamas’ and ‘The Suffragetes’ and a behind the scenes tour of Milton Keynes Theatre in 2016. 2017 included trips further afield to Kew Gardens, Highclere House (of Downton Abbey Fame) and Emma Bridgewater factory in Stoke on Trent. 2018 included a trip to Cambridge Botanical Gardens with a guided tour and following on from our April speaker, a trip to Lamport Hall and Gardens. In 2019 members visited Steane Park, Sezincote House and Gardens and Thenford Gardens to see the Autumn colours. Atrip to see Calendar Grls musical at Derngate Theatre was also enjoyed.  You can contact Ann on 01327 439159 and Maggie on 01327 311016.

New for 2020 is a series of  visits to local gardens.  Joanna Dring, on 07973 278353, is the member to contact about these.

Another new group started in 2014 was the Knit-Wits  – a knit and natter for charity group.  Many of us enjoy knitting and invariably have wool left over, times when you have knitted so much that you have run out of projects and could stock a shop with the number of knitted items that you have created.   The aim of the group is to support a charity (or charities) with our knitted creations.
As their first project in 2014 the group knitted many teddy bears, baby hats and coats and cot blankets for the Greenfields  Africa ‘Mama Bag’ project.   The bags are used as incentives for mothers-to-be to attend antenatal services, thus helping the fight against AIDS, TB and infant mortality. They are distributed direct to the poorest families in the remotest areas of Uganda and Kenya.
Since then they have knitted woolly hats for seamen, baby items for  Cynthia Spencer Hospice shop and for the St. Martins baby bath scheme to help local mums in Davetry area who are struggling. They have also knitted and crocheted ‘twiddle’ muffs for the local hospitals and care homes, blankets for sale in the local Air Ambuance shop, ‘memory’ blankets for palliative care patients at Rugby St. Cross and baby pockets and blankets for SANDS.
They regularly knit popppies to decorate St. Mary’s Church, Badby and in 2019 decorated the WI Centenary bench on the village green. 2019 also saw them knit Forgt-me-Knots for a Cynthia Spencer Hospice display at Castle Ashby.
