B&FCC NEWS
With a new season on the horizon, Badby&Farthingstone CC are delighted to announce that they have reached agreement with Badby Parish Council on a long term lease for the cricket ground at Chapel Lane, Badby.
Club chairman Andy Nightingale said: “This is great news for the club, the village of Badby and surrounding area. It gives us the security of tenure necessary to plan our long term development and gives the council, village and local area a viable and committed sports club that welcomes everyone.
“Thanks go to everyone on both sides for their perseverance in reaching an agreement and we look forward to a long and fruitful partnership with Badby Parish Council.”
With outdoor sports restrictions being eased later this month, the club is looking forward to the start of nets sessions after an active close season. The season should start on time (Intra-club game April 11) with, depending on official ECB guidance, the first half of the season up to June 21 played under Covid safe regulations. After then the club are hoping to resume using the pavilion and providing teas.
In other news, a club survey showed that a majority of those voting were in favour of taking part in some form of league cricket in the future as well as good support for a possible tour in September. The virtual AGM also saw the addition of three new club officers (Communication, Fundraising and Community) to help the club’s development and future growth.
On the fund-raising front, captain Charlie Ashmore continues the weekly on-line sporting predictor event where club members and supporters are invited to predict the outcome of several weekend sporting events. Winning entrants collect half the week’s stakes with the rest going to club funds. It has proved to be hugely successful and open to all the local community.
As the club looks to expand into league, youth and women’s cricket alongside its regular Sunday and midweek friendlies it welcomes all new players – men, women, teenagers and children.
Membership fees are: Full £50, Playing £30, Social £20, Junior £10. Anyone interested in joining B&FCC please contact Andy via e-mail andynightingale23@gmail.com
