Badby and Farthingstone Cricket Club news – February 2021

Good to report another busy month for the club with a virtual AGM, a big welcome for some new club and proposed committee members as well as more fund-raising via the popular weekly sporting predictor.

Chairman Andy Nightingale led the way in the AGM with an amended constitution and club regulations for the members to have their say on proposals to align B&FCC more closely to the ECB and NCCC for future club development. If passed this will also demonstrate good governance, important for future external funding and also supports the club’s move to getting CASC (Community Amateur Sports Club) status. It was also proposed to create three new club officers (Communication, Fundraising and Community) to aid future club growth. The individuals that fill these roles will then be invited to join the committee.

Full AGM decisions in next month’s update.

On the membership side, and as happened last year during lockdown, it looks as if the club will have even more players to choose from when the season gets underway as there has been lots of interest from interested parties since the start of 2021. Anyone interested please contact chairman Andy Nightingale at or captain Charlie Ashmore at

On the fund-raising front, Charlie Ashmore has continued the weekly on-line sporting predictor event where club members and supporters are invited to predict the outcome of several weekend sporting events. Winning entrants collect half the week’s stakes with the rest going to club funds. It has proved to be hugely successful and open to all the local community.
