With the 2019 fixtures now completed the recently-formed Badby & Farthingstone CC can look back on an exciting and successful first season at their new home near Badby Woods just outside the village.
And with a string of wins, this will go down as a successful inaugural season, something to build on for the 2020 season.
The final three matches saw a win against SNCC before defeats to Blakesley and Crick Lions. It was farewell to club member Jes Ackland-Snow who is jetting off to a new life overseas. Good luck Jes!
Sunday September 8 heralded the club’s open day which attracted over 50 people (members, guests and families). The sun shone and it was great to see so much support for the club. All enjoyed a bbq, refreshments, tombola and 18-over cricket – bringing the curtain down on a season which has seen great progress being made off, as well as on, the field.
The new net facilities augur well for next summer whilst the addition of a new sightscreen has been an added bonus. The ground too has benefitted from the hard work put in by the club’s ground-staff and is a joy to play at, a truly stunning setting. This winter the club will be hard at work putting the pavilion in order, including a much-needed lick of paint.
There was no end of season tour this year but plans are already afoot for one next September.
Next up is the club’s annual presentation night, which will take place in November (date tbc) and the AGM early next year. Watch this space.
