Going for a walk around the woods a week after my last visit, when I saw no bluebells out, I now saw hundreds of them: no carpet of blue yet but easy to spot flowers in several parts of the wood. There were also lots more wood anemones and wood sorrel out. It just goes to show that with a bit of good weather at this time of year things can change rapidly!
I heard a couple of chiffchaffs singing (summer visitors) and also about ten nuthatches! Butterflies were on the wing again including brimstone, tortoiseshell and peacock. So quite a contrast – I even heard a tawny owl at two o’clock in the afternoon!
Of course it will only take a bit of cool, dull weather to slow everything down again.
