With the new season only a few weeks away, Badby CC and Farthingstone & District CC officially joined forces last month to form what will now be known as Badby & Farthingstone Cricket Club.
A new club constitution was voted and agreed upon at the recent club AGM with several new officers appointed.
New committee: Chairman Andy Nightingale, treasurer Chris Prastka, secretary Malcolm Alphonso, captain Charlie Ashmore, vice-captain Steve Nelligan, grounds officer Phil Hall.
Vice presidents: Michael Wilcox, Alan Brooks, Peter Collins, Peter Banks, Martin Wilcox, Mick Mynard, Neil Brooks, Jim and Mo Scott, Peter and Linda Mayne, Robbie Knox, Paul Egerton, Len Birchall.
Finance: Player subs are £50 for the season, juniors £10. Players can “pay per play” at £10 per game, teas will cost £5 each.
New season: first match is on Sunday May 5 with an away fixture at Spencer Bruerne CC who play at Stoke Bruerne, followed by home matches against Maids Moreton (May 19) and Northampton Eaglets (May 26). Both home matches start at 2pm.
The club is affiliated to the ECB and Northants Recreational Cricket and draws its players from the local area, growing steadily thanks to the efforts of the local community, club committee and players who enjoy the social nature of the cricket played on the pitch and the relaxed family atmosphere off it.
The club welcomes anyone in the area – young, old, male, female – who want to enjoy a game of cricket or simply support this family-friendly club. Matches usually take place on a Sunday afternoon with the occasional midweek fixture.
