Badby bird notes for January 2019 –

As temperatures start to drop to what would be expected in January, the number of birds visiting our feeders is increasing. The majority are tits, with groups of long-tailed tits particularly keen on the fat balls.

There are plenty of winter thrushes, fieldfares and redwings, in the countryside around the village and if we get some snow, I’m sure they will be in our garden feeding on the apples that are currently favoured by squirrels and jackdaws.

Some lucky villagers are getting regular visits from grey wagtails to their pond and fountain. It’s also possible to find one or more flitting along the stream in Brookside Lane.
