Badby bird notes for April 2018

Siskins continued to appear in our garden until about half way through April. They probably thought it was still winter!

I couldn’t find any bluebells out in Badby Woods in early April but the recent spell of warm weather has allowed things to catch up somewhat. The woodland floor now displays its familiar spring carpet of blue.

Blackcaps and chiffchaffs have been in evidence, singing, since the end of March. They have recently been joined by willow warblers. One or two swallows and house martins have been seen flying over but it’s still a bit early for nesting to start.
