Before the builders start work on the floor repairs and improvements in St Mary’s Church, 25 people came along on Sunday, October 15. Starting with an hour’s guided tour of the heritage of each part of the inside of the 14th century building. Cups of tea were available while the first of three groups climbed the tower for a look at the ringing, clock and bell chambers before emerging through the awkward trap-door onto the roof in just the right weather. There was an additional guided visit to outside graffiti and notable tombs.
Further tours will be advertised in future.
