Badby bird notes for August 2016 –

On an evening walk at the end of August, we saw a family of four roe deer in one of the fields adjacent to Badby Woods as well as another pair nearby.  In previous weeks a single deer had often been seen with just its head projecting above the crops.

Summer visiting birds are still around although, apart from swallows and house martins, they are less visible and also quiet.

Roving mixed flocks of birds are starting to appear in the woods. Recently I saw a group including blue, coal, great and long-tailed tits as well as treecreeper and blackcap.
