Summer migrants have now arrived with swallow, house martin, swift and whitethroat joining the early arrivals – chiffchaff and blackcap. I’ve heard one willow warbler but, sadly, no cuckoo. The nearest to Badby I’ve heard or seen a cuckoo is about ten miles away. Young birds including robin, dunnock, coal tit and greenfinch have been around our feeders.
On the insect front, sunny days have brought a number of butterflies to the garden including orange tip, green-veined white and holly blue. Our conservatory has also had a visit from a large red damselfly.
