There were several reports of a cuckoo calling in Badby Woods in April, – not a common spring sound around Badby in recent years. The willow warbler is another bird that is becoming more scarce in this area – I’ve only heard one so far this spring. However there are plenty of chiffchaffs and blackcaps singing and whitethroats in the hedgerows.
We’ve had house martins visiting the nest under our eaves and there have been one of two swifts overhead in the last few days. Generally it’s been a fairly quiet spring for migrant birds up to now. RP
