Badby bird notes  for April –

Spring is in full swing now with first blackcap and then willow warbler, whitethroat,  lesser whitethroat and swallows joining the chiffchaffs that had arrived in March. This week house martins have been inspecting the nest under our eaves. On a more grisly note, one Badby resident observed a sparrowhawk first killing and then eating a starling on his back lawn.

More butterflies are on the wing, particularly white ones such as orange tip and green-veined white.

The woods are a mass of colour with many bluebells out along with wood anemone, wood sorrel, yellow archangel, lesser celandine and stitchwort.  RP
